Overview
Roomantic is a room-scanning app for iOS that uses your device’s LiDAR sensor and camera to create 3D models of your spaces. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how your data is handled.
LiDAR & Camera Data
All LiDAR and camera data captured during room scans is processed entirely on your device. Scan data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to share it.
Room Sharing
Room data is only shared when you explicitly create a share link. When you share a room, the room’s 3D model data is uploaded to Apple’s iCloud infrastructure (CloudKit) so others can view it via the link. Share links expire automatically after 90 days and can be revoked at any time. No data is uploaded without your explicit action.
AI-Powered Features
Roomantic offers optional AI-powered features including object identification, room restyling, and room analysis. When you use these features, image data from your scans is sent to third-party AI providers for processing using API keys managed by Roomantic — you do not need to provide your own. Images are scaled down and compressed before sending. We do not store the image data sent to these providers beyond what is needed to complete the request. Please refer to Google’s privacy policy for details on how they handle data.
Personal Information
Roomantic does not require account creation, and we do not collect your name, email address, or other personal details. If you submit feedback through the app, your message and basic device information are sent to us solely to improve the app. Feedback is never sold, shared with third parties, or used for any purpose other than improving Roomantic.
Analytics
Roomantic uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-friendly analytics service, to understand how the app is used in aggregate. TelemetryDeck does not collect personally identifiable information, does not track your IP address, and does not use cookies or fingerprinting. All user identifiers are anonymized via one-way hashing. We do not use any advertising frameworks or share data with third parties for advertising purposes.
Location Data
When you start a room scan, Roomantic captures a single GPS coordinate and compass heading from your device (with your permission). This data is used to align your floor plan to true north and to enable sunlight analysis. The App also uses Apple’s reverse geocoding to auto-name rooms based on their address. Location data is captured once at scan start and stored locally on your device. It is never sent to analytics or third-party services. If you enable iCloud sync, location data is included with your room data in your iCloud account.
iCloud Sync
Roomantic uses iCloud to sync your room scans across your own Apple devices. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is governed by Apple’s privacy policy. We do not have access to your iCloud data.
Photo Library & Audio
Roomantic may request access to your photo library to save or export floor plans and screenshots. If you use the voice annotation feature, audio is recorded and stored locally on your device. Neither photos nor audio recordings are sent to any server unless you explicitly share them.
Crash Reporting
Roomantic uses Apple’s built-in crash reporting. If the app crashes, minimal diagnostic information (such as the type of error and app state) may be sent to Apple automatically. This is governed by your device’s diagnostics sharing settings and Apple’s privacy policy. Crash reports do not contain personally identifiable information.
Feedback
When you submit feedback through the app, your message along with basic device information (device model, OS version, app version) is sent to us via Apple CloudKit. You may optionally attach screenshots and recent app logs. Feedback submission is always user-initiated.
Data Retention
All room scan data is stored locally on your device. Shared room links expire automatically after 90 days. You can delete your data at any time by removing rooms within the app or deleting the app entirely.
